VL Automotive and Chinese Investment Group Wanxiang are looking to buy troubled automotive manufacturer Fisker. Maker of the curvaceous Karma, Fisker has been cash-strapped for some time now due to what company insiders called an overly optimistic business plan that anticipated rapid sales growth. Tesla's success in the luxury/upscale electric vehicle industry hasn't helped Fisker's cause either.
Mercedes-Benz is reportedly considering a deal to buyout sports car manufacturer Aston Martin, which would increase the firm’s current 5% stake in the British brand. Following a deal to supply AMG engines to Aston for its next generation of vehicles (hence the current 5% share), a buyout or even further investment in Aston Martin could be beneficial to both brands. The Mazda Takeri Concept Mazda are going to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show next month is the first public step towards the new Mazda 6, and the second instalment of Mazda’s new SKY technology wrapped up in a car heading for production, the first being the new C-X5, which will also be on Mazda’s stand at Tokyo. The Takeri features Mazda’s latest design language – KODO Soul of Motion – which is less of a caricature than Mazda’s current cartoon face designs. But the key to the new Mazda6 / Takeri is the SKYACTIV technology.
